COMMENDATIONS: Commends Joshua Husser upon his appointment to the U.S. Air
Force Academy
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend Joshua Husser upon his appointment to the United States Air Force Academy.
3 WHEREAS, the United States Air Force Academy seeks individuals who possess
4exceptional academic prowess and leadership potential; and
5 WHEREAS, to win appointment to the United States Air Force Academy, candidates
6must be of good moral character and meet high leadership, academic, physical, and medical
7standards; and
8 WHEREAS, out of more than 12,000 applicants to the United States Air Force
9Academy each year, fewer than ten percent merit appointment; and
10 WHEREAS, Joshua Husser, a senior at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in
11Hammond, has matriculated as a student who more than exceeds the rigorous, stringent
12standards of exceptionalism set by one of the nation's most prestigious academic institutions;
13and
14 WHEREAS, while at St. Thomas Aquinas High School, Mr. Husser demonstrated
15his intellectual acumen by passing the ACT with flying colors, scoring 33 out of 36 possible
16points; he is a member of Beta Club, the National Honor Society, and the Quiz Bowl team;
17and
18 WHEREAS, leadership skills are a critical component of successful applicants to the
19United States Air Force Academy; Mr. Husser is president of the 4-H Club and captain of
20the shooting team at St. Thomas Aquinas; and

1 WHEREAS, it is fitting to herald the achievements of Louisiana's accomplished
2youth like Joshua Husser, a model student and citizen who represents the best and brightest
3of the state.
4 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
5Legislature of Louisiana does hereby congratulate Joshua Husser upon his appointment to
6the United States Air Force Academy; does hereby commend his commitment to the defense
7of the principles and ideals of his country through military service; and does hereby extend
8to him best wishes for a safe tour of duty at the Academy and high hopes for success in the
9endeavors of his life.
10 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
11to Joshua Husser.
