HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 85
BY REPRESENTATIVES SCHRODER, BROADWATER, EDWARDS, AND PUGH
COMMENDATIONS:  Commends Andre Coudrain for his many accomplishments and his
contributions to higher education in the state of Louisiana
1	A RESOLUTION
2To commend Andre Coudrain for his accomplishments and his contributions to higher
3 education in the state of Louisiana.
4 WHEREAS, New Orleans native Andre Coudrain received a bachelor of arts degree
5in government from Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond in 1979; he was elected
6president of the Student Government Association; and
7 WHEREAS, while matriculating at Southeastern, Mr. Coudrain was active in the
8Student Government Association, serving terms as president and vice president; he served
9as chairman of the Student Government Association election board, was president of Circle
10K, was named Outstanding Male Student, and served on numerous university committees;
11he also was elected student member to the Board of Trustees for State Colleges and
12Universities in Louisiana, now known as the Board of Supervisors for the University of
13Louisiana System; and
14 WHEREAS, Andre Coudrain was appointed by former Governor Murphy "Mike"
15Foster to the Board of Supervisors for the University of Louisiana System in 1996 and his
16appointment continued under Governor Bobby Jindal until 2015; during his Board of
17Supervisors tenure, Mr. Coudrain was chairman of the board from 2000-2001, vice chairman
18of the board from 1998-1999, chairman of the finance committee, chairman of the legislation
19committee, and chairman of the academic and student affairs committee; and
20 WHEREAS, Governor Jindal appointed Mr. Coudrain to the Education Advisory
21Council and to represent Louisiana on the Education Commission of the States; and

1 WHEREAS, Mr. Coudrain was named 2002 Distinguished Alumnus of the College
2of Arts and Sciences at Southeastern, Hammond Man of the Year in 2003 by the Junior
3Auxiliary, and is a trustee for Holy Ghost Church Parish, where he and his wife Kelly are
4members of Holy Ghost Catholic Church; and
5 WHEREAS, Andre Coudrain has always held a special place for his undergraduate
6alma mater in his heart and soul; he is mentor to the Southeastern Louisiana University
7Student Government Association president during the president's one-year member term to
8the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors and Mr. Coudrain provides
9invaluable assistance in this capacity; and
10 WHEREAS, the time and effort Mr. Coudrain expends demonstrates his commitment
11to higher education in Louisiana; it is evident that Andre Coudrain is recognized as a leader
12by his colleagues, one who uses every opportunity to assist others in solving complex
13problems, finds fair and consistent solutions, and exudes a calmness that pervades the 
14multiple and varied environments in which he serves; and
15 WHEREAS, Andre Coudrain has exhibited support beyond measure for all
16institutions in the University of Louisiana System but is a special champion of his alma
17mater, Southeastern Louisiana University, and it is appropriate to commend his untiring
18work for the cause of higher education in the state of Louisiana.
19 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
20Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Andre Coudrain for the gains in higher
21education in Louisiana to which he has contributed over a lifetime of work; does hereby
22extol the virtues of this generous, unselfish champion of student learning and achievement;
23and does hereby extend best wishes and bright hopes to Mr. Coudrain for continued success
24in future endeavors.
25 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
26to Andre Coudrain.
