COMMENDATIONS: Commends David and Beatrice Edwards upon 50 years of marriage
and their faithful service to their family, church, and community
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend Mr. and Mrs. David Edwards upon the celebration of fifty years of marriage
3 and for their faithful service to their family, church, and community.
4 WHEREAS, David Edwards and Beatrice Thibodeaux were joined in holy
5matrimony on July 10, 1965, at Immaculate Conception Church in Lebeau, Louisiana; and
6 WHEREAS, they are the loving parents of Angelia, Patrick, Catherine, Theresa, and
7Garrett, and the proud grandparents and great-grandparents of seven grandchildren and two
8great-grandchildren; and
9 WHEREAS, for over fifty years, Mr. and Mrs. Edwards have been active members
10of Immaculate Conception Church, where Mrs. Edwards serves as director of the religious
11education program and Mr. Edwards serves with Council 10 of the Knights of Peter Claver;
12and
13 WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Edwards also serve as volunteers for the annual Lebeau
14Zydeco Music Festival, the largest fundraiser for the church parish and the largest public
15community event in the area held around Fourth of July weekend; and
16 WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Edwards are recipients of the Martin Luther King Award
17given by the diocese of Lafayette in honor of their commitment to public service in their
18church and community; and
19 WHEREAS, Mr. Edwards has served as an active volunteer firefighter since 1992,
20as a certified first responder for six years, and as a committee member on the drainage board
21in Palmetto, Louisiana, for ten years; and

1 WHEREAS, after twenty years of service at PMG Feed as a fertilizer manager, Mr.
2Edwards retired from his professional career; and
3 WHEREAS, for thirteen years, Mrs. Edwards has worked as a school bus attendant
4and with special needs children; and
5 WHEREAS, the Edwards' commitment to each other and their family is an example
6of lifelong love and commitment that is an inspiration to their entire community.
7 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
8Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Mr. and Mrs. David Edwards for fifty years
9of marriage; does hereby recognize their faithful service to their family, church, and
10community; and does hereby extend wishes of continued happiness to Mr. and Mrs. Edwards
11as they enjoy their future years together.
12 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
13to Mr. and Mrs. David Edwards.
