Prior law (effective 7/1/16) provided for the six divisions within the office of multimodal
commerce:
(1)Commercial trucking.
(2)Ports and harbors.
(3)Aviation.
(4)Rail.
(5)Maritime.
(6)Intercity public mass transit.
New law (effective 7/1/16) consolidates those divisions into four:
(1)Commercial trucking.
(2)Ports and waterways.
(3)Aviation.
(4)Freight and passenger rail development.
Prior law required the Multi modal Commerce Advisory Commission to meet and develop
an operational plan and proposed legislation for the 2015 Regular Session necessary to
implement the operational plan on July 1, 2016.  Prior law further required that the
operational plan be presented to the Senate and House committees on transportation,
highways, and public works for their review, amendment, and approval no later than
February 1, 2015.
New law (effective 7/1/15) retains prior law but extends the 2015 deadlines to 2016.
Prior law provided for membership for the Louisiana Board of International Commerce.
New law (effective 1/12/16) adds the commissioner of Multi modal commerce as a member.
Prior law (effective 7/1/16) provided that the commissioner of Multi modal commerce be
appointed by the governor.
New law (effective 1/12/16) provides that the commissioner of Multi modal commerce be
appointed by the governor.
(Amends R.S. 36:508.3(D), 508.4(B)(intro para) and (3) and (C), and Section 3 of Act 719
of 2014 R.S.; adds R.S. 51:3136(A)(9))
