Present law authorizes the Louisiana Forestry Commission to sue and be sued; and have and exercise
all authority and power as prescribed by law for the former commissioner of conservation in relation
to the practice of forestry.
Proposed law authorizes the Louisiana Forestry Commission to exercise all authority and power as
prescribed by law, removes the reference to the former commissioner of conservation and otherwise
retains present law.
Present law authorizes the office of forestry to purchase land, install watering systems, and construct
and equip the buildings necessary for the operation of at least two forest tree seedling nurseries and
requires that north and south Louisiana each have at least one nursery.
Proposed law removes the requirement that the office of forestry operate at least two forest tree
nurseries. Proposed law also removes the requirement that north and south Louisiana each have at
least one nursery.
Effective upon signature of the governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
