CLERKS OF COURT. Authorizes the clerk of district court for East Feliciana and West
Feliciana Parishes to charge an additional fee for issuing birth and death certificates. (8/1/15)
1 AN ACT
2 To enact R.S. 40:39.1(B)(5), relative to fees for certified copies; to provide relative to the
3 clerks of court in East Feliciana and West Feliciana Parishes; to provide for an
4 additional fee for issuing certified copies of birth certificates and death certificates;
5 and to provide for related matters.
6 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
7 Section 1. R.S. 40:39.1(B)(5) is hereby enacted to read as follows:
8 ยง39.1. Certified copies of birth certificates and death certificates; clerks of district
9 courts and the Second City Court of the city of New Orleans; Vital

13 (5) Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, in
14 addition to fees collected for issuance of a birth record or death certificate as
15 provided in R.S. 40:40, and Paragraph (1) of this Subsection, the clerk of
16 district court for East Feliciana Parish and West Feliciana Parish may charge
17 an additional ten dollar fee for issuance of certified copies of birth certificates

Present law authorizes the clerk of district court in each parish to collect a fee of five dollars
for a short-form birth certificate and nine dollars for a long-form birth certificate or a death
certificate, in addition to other fees determined by the state registrar.
Proposed law authorizes the clerk of district court for the parishes of East Feliciana and West
Feliciana to charge an additional fee of $10 for issuing certified copies of birth and death
certificates.
Effective August 1, 2015.
