Act 139 (SB 68) 2015 Regular Session Buffington
Prior law prohibited DHH from approving any additional nursing facilities or additional beds
in nursing facilities through facility need review.
Prior law applied the prohibition only to applications for new beds not approved prior to July
1, 1996, and the prohibition remains in effect until July 1, 2016.
New law changes the deadline date for enforcement from July 1, 2016 to July 1, 2022.
Effective upon signature of the governor (June 19, 2015).
