2015 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 125 BY SENATOR DORSEY-COLOMB A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION To express the sincere and heartfelt condolences of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the death of Joseph Robinette "Beau" Biden III. WHEREAS, it is with deep sadness and profound sorrow that the members of the Legislature of Louisiana have learned of the passing of Joseph Robinette "Beau" Biden III on May 30, 2015, at the age of forty-six, after a courageous fight with brain cancer; and WHEREAS, "Beau" Biden was known to many as a deeply devoted husband, father, and son, while serving as an honorable veteran, and as a dedicated public servant to the people of Delaware; and WHEREAS, the passing of "Beau" Biden, the elder son of former United States Senator and current Vice President Joseph Biden Jr., the father of two children, daughter Natalie, and son Hunter, and the loving husband to wife Hallie for thirteen years, will leave an indelible mark in his family's hearts and lives; and WHEREAS, "Beau" Biden entered military life as a member of the Delaware Army National Guard and was a Major in the Judge Advocate General (JAG) Corps as part of the 261st Signal Brigade in Smyrna, Delaware, and served a year long stint on active duty in Iraq from October 2008 to September 2009, which is why this honorable veteran will be deeply missed by the military family; and WHEREAS, the political shining star of "Beau" Biden began when he was elected Attorney General of Delaware in 2006, followed by a second term as Delaware's Attorney General in 2010, and culminated with the announcement of his intention to run for Governor of Delaware in the 2016 election, has now faded away with his passing, thus leaving the citizens of Delaware with a huge void for this public servant; and WHEREAS, "Beau" Biden has the distinction of being the first person to have held an elected office while his father serves as Vice President of the United States; and Page 1 of 2 SCR NO. 125 ENROLLED WHEREAS, many would say "Beau left too soon", it could be remembered as Abraham Lincoln once said, "In the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years". THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the passing of Joseph Robinette "Beau" Biden III and does hereby commend a life well spent in service to his family, country and the state of Delaware. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to his father and widow, Vice President Joseph Biden Jr., and Hallie Olivere Biden.
