SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 134

A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
To commend Christopher Michael Bester upon his outstanding accomplishments.
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend Christopher Michael Bester for his
achievements and contributions to his fellow citizens; and
WHEREAS, Christopher was born to Michael and Alfreda Tillman Bester in Baton
Rouge, Louisiana, where he was exposed to many influential people, including governors,
public servants, civic, social, religious, and civil rights leaders and great educators; and
WHEREAS, Christopher was spiritually guided at Mount Zion First Baptist Church
in Baton Rouge, under the late Reverend Dr. T.J. Jemison; and
WHEREAS, Christopher is a product of the East Baton Rouge Parish School System,
graduating from Baton Rouge Magnet High School where he helped his track team to win
the 2002 4x400 meter state championship and the 2003 overall state track championship; and
WHEREAS, in the spring of 2008, Christopher graduated from Southern University,
Baton Rouge, with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and he also received a Master of
Business Administration degree from Southern, graduating in the top ten percent of his class
and being inducted into the International Honor Society for business graduates known as
Beta Gamma Sigma; and 
WHEREAS, on May 10, 2015, Christopher and his high school sweetheart, Cacey
Sherron Stevens, who is a candidate to receive her Doctor of Philosophy in Physics from the
University of Chicago, were engaged and plan to marry in the spring of 2016; and 
WHEREAS, Christopher has worked as one of Senator Dorsey-Colomb's session
aides since 2014; and
WHEREAS, Christopher's parents, Dr. Jemison, Senator Dorsey-Colomb, and many
others impressed upon him that he could be anything that he wanted to be through God's
grace; and

WHEREAS, through his academic achievements and his involvement with the
community, this young man has formed a solid foundation which will serve him well in his
future endeavors; and 
WHEREAS, Christopher is the future of Louisiana's government and business and
is a civic leader of tomorrow. 
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend and congratulate Christopher Michael Bester upon his many outstanding
accomplishments, does hereby recognize and record for posterity the tremendous pride and
honor that he brings to his family, friends, community, and state, and extends best wishes
for success in his future endeavors. 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Christopher Michael Bester.
