SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 137
BY SENATOR BROWN AND REPRESENTATIVE PRICE 
COMMENDATIONS.  Commends Mrs. Doris Domingue Harleaux upon the celebration of
her hundredth birthday.
1	A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2 To commend Doris Domingue Harleaux upon the occasion of her one hundredth birthday.
3 WHEREAS, on the memorable and historic occasion of her one hundredth birthday,
4 it is appropriate that sincere and heartfelt congratulations be extended to Mrs. Doris
5 Domingue Harleaux, as her lifetime of commitment and devotion to her family and friends
6 are commended and celebrated; and
7 WHEREAS, Doris Domingue was born on June 17, 1915, in Walls, Louisiana, in
8 Pointe Coupee Parish to the late Alcide Joseph Domingue and Mathilda Elizabeth Honore;
9 and
10 WHEREAS, her maternal grandparents are the late Jean Baptiste Honore and
11 Eugenie Patin and her paternal grandparents are the late Joseph Arthur Domingue and Marie
12 Camille Porche; and
13 WHEREAS, Doris was baptized at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in
14 Lakeland, Louisiana, on August 8, 1915, and her godparents were John Buteau and Mathilda
15 Domingue; and 
16 WHEREAS, she and George Harleaux were married on October 18, 1932, and to this
17 union five children were conceived: George Reese Harleaux Jr., Emma Jean Harleaux
18 married to Preston Domingue, Richard Joseph Harleaux married to Nazimova Ratliff,

1 Theresa Mae Harleaux married to Alvin Molina Sr., and LaBelle Marie Harleaux married
2 to Henry Demby Jr., and these unions brought forth thirteen grandchildren, twenty-eight
3 great-grandchildren, and thirty-nine great-great-grandchildren; and
4 WHEREAS, in March 1958, she and her husband moved from Erwinville to New
5 Orleans where she lived for forty-seven years and attended St. David Catholic Church on St.
6 Claude Avenue; and 
7 WHEREAS, because of Hurricane Katrina she moved to Donaldsonville in 2005 and
8 now attends St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church; and
9 WHEREAS, she has survived the death of her ten siblings: Wilfred Domingue, Irene
10 Domingue Bergeron (one hundred years old at time of death), James Kaiser Domingue,
11 Anna Mathilda Domingue Harleaux, Eugenie "Jane" Domingue Guidry, Leo Domingue,
12 Rosalie Domingue Mathis, Charles "Charlie" Domingue, Alcide Joseph Domingue, and
13 Allen Domingue; and 
14 WHEREAS, Doris enjoys cooking and was an excellent cook; according to her
15 children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her jambalaya was very tasty and they
16 especially enjoyed her meat pies; and
17 WHEREAS, she and her brothers, the late Kaiser and Alcide Domingue, would get
18 together during crawfish season and make crawfish bisque, enough to share with other
19 family members and some for the freezer and she did a lot of canning of vegetables and
20 fruits; and 
21 WHEREAS, her favorite TV show was The Golden Girls, she especially liked
22 Sophia, and she now watches Channel 15, The Catholic Station.
23 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
24 commend Doris Domingue Harleaux upon the occasion of her one hundredth birthday, does
25 hereby record and recognize the extraordinary life she has lived in the one hundred years
26 since her birth, does hereby extend enduring gratitude for the contributions she has made to
27 her family, friends, and church, and does hereby wish her full measures of happiness in the
28 years to come.
29 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Doris
30 Domingue Harleaux.
