SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 31
BY SENATOR ERDEY AND REPRESENTATI VE SCHEXNAYDER 
COMMENDATIONS.  Commends Keith Martin on his retirement from the Livingston
Parish School Board.
1	A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2 To commend and congratulate Keith Martin on his retirement from the Livingston Parish
3 School Board.
4 WHEREAS, Keith Martin was first elected to the Livingston Parish School Board
5 to represent District 8 in 1986 and took office in 1987; and
6 WHEREAS, at that time, the board spent less than thirty million dollars annually to
7 operate schools for the thirteen thousand students in the district; and
8 WHEREAS, currently, the board oversees a budget of nearly two hundred million
9 dollars for the education of more than twenty-five thousand students; and
10 WHEREAS, Mr. Martin has witnessed many changes to the educational landscape
11 during his twenty-eight years on the board; and
12 WHEREAS, as a board member, he has overseen the implementation of new
13 educational standards, accountability measures, and numerous initiatives in the state's quest
14 to raise test scores in Louisiana; and
15 WHEREAS, he has devoted much of his life to serving the students of Livingston
16 Parish and to ensuring that those students have access to a quality education; and
17 WHEREAS, the success of the state of Louisiana, the strength of our communities,
18 and the overall vitality of American society depend in great measure upon public servants

1 like Keith Martin; and
2 WHEREAS, Keith Martin merits a special measure of commendation for the
3 tremendous pride and honor that he brings to his family, friends, community, the parish of
4 Livingston, and the state of Louisiana.
5 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
6 commend and congratulate Keith Martin, Livingston Parish School Board member
7 representing District 8, for his dedication upon his retirement from public service, does
8 hereby recognize and record for posterity his accomplishments and contributions to his
9 community, and does hereby extend best wishes for his continued success and happiness in
10 the years to come.
11 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
12 Keith Martin.
