SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 41
BY SENATOR GUILLORY 
COMMENDATIONS.  Declares April 22, 2015, as Youth Equine Day at the Legislature.
1	A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2 To commend the youth that proudly represent Louisiana in equine exhibitions within the
3 state and across the country and to declare April 22, 2015, as Youth Equine Day at
4 the Legislature.
5 WHEREAS, it is appropriate that the Legislature of Louisiana recognize and
6 commend the many students that represent our state in equine exhibitions and competitions
7 and to declare April 22, 2015, as Youth Equine Day at the Legislature; and
8 WHEREAS, the horse industry is an important component of the agricultural
9 economy of Louisiana; and
10 WHEREAS, the buying and selling of horses, creation of jobs, expenditures on
11 horses, and equestrian events have an estimated economic impact of 2.5 billion dollars each
12 year; and
13 WHEREAS, youth from across the state have come together to bring awareness to
14 the size and scope of this billion dollar industry; and
15 WHEREAS, the Legislature of Louisiana encourages these youth to continue to
16 achieve equine accolades and to proudly represent the state of Louisiana; and
17 WHEREAS, the Legislature of Louisiana recognizes the T.B. Porter family who has
18 produced generations of equine competitors, and all participants of the Louisiana Hunter

1 Jumper Association, North American Championship International Level, National Dressage
2 Finals, Gulf Coast Hunter Jumper Association, Mississippi Hunter Jumper Association; and
3 WHEREAS, the Legislature of Louisiana also recognizes participants in the World
4 High School Rodeo Finals in Rock Springs, Wyoming; Junior High Division of Rodeo
5 Finals in Gallop, New Mexico; International Youth Rodeo Finals in Shawanne, Oklahoma;
6 National Little Britches Rodeo Finals in Pueblo, Colorado; College National Rodeo Finals
7 in Casper, Wyoming; World Quarter Horse Show, Louisiana High School Rodeo Finals in
8 Lake Charles, Louisiana, which had over four hundred participants; and
9 WHEREAS, the Legislature of Louisiana also recognizes the participants in the
10 United States Team Roping Championships in Kinder and Monroe, Louisiana; Dixie
11 National Horse Show in Jackson, Mississippi; Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in
12 Houston, Texas; 4-H Southern Regional in West Virginia; and
13 WHEREAS, lastly the Legislature of Louisiana also recognizes the McNeese Rodeo
14 Team, Louisiana State University Equestrian Team, and Academy of the Sacred Heart Team
15 and notes that the LSU Equestrian Team was the overall High Point Team in the region.
16 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
17 commend the youth that proudly represent Louisiana in equine exhibitions within the state
18 and across the country and hereby designate April 22, 2015, as Youth Equine Day at the
19 Legislature.
20 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
21 Daniel Lyons.
