COMMENDATIONS. Commends David "Wayne" Petrus for being named one of the top
ten 2014 pilots for Pilots for Patients.
1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2 To commend and congratulate David "Wayne" Petrus for being named one of the top ten
3 2014 pilots for Pilots for Patients.
4 WHEREAS, Pilots for Patients, based in Monroe, Louisiana, organizes pilots who
5 are willing to volunteer their time and money to fly patients to receive medical care; and
6 WHEREAS, since its inception in 2007, Pilots for Patients has flown almost
7 twenty-three hundred flights, free of charge to patients, and currently has a listing of one
8 hundred five volunteer pilots; and
9 WHEREAS, Wayne Petrus is president of Tyner Petrus Co. Inc. (TP Outdoors)
10 which was established in 1928, the past chairman of the board for the West Monroe-West
11 Ouachita Chamber of Commerce, currently sits on the board of directors and a member of
12 Worldwide Distributors Inc., which is headquartered in Seattle, Washington, and is a
13 contract pilot for Centurylink flying a Citation XLS SIC airplane; and
14 WHEREAS, he was a magna cum laude graduate of Louisiana Tech University; and
15 WHEREAS, he is the loving and devoted husband of Kay Brown Petrus and the
16 committed father of three sons, Patrick, Matt, and Jordan who is a United States Navy active
17 duty soldier; one daughter, Piper; one stepdaughter, Lindsay; and a cherished grandfather
18 to Riley and Avery; and

1 WHEREAS, in addition to volunteering for Pilots of Patients, he has volunteered his
2 time and money by flying forty-eight missions for Angel Flight South Central and being
3 named its 2005 Pilot of the Year, and by flying twenty-five missions for the Houston Ground
4 and Air Angels and being named its 2008 Pilot of the Year; and
5 WHEREAS, he has been a Pilots for Patients volunteer pilot since its inaugural flight
6 on January 14, 2008, and has flown and completed one hundred twenty-four missions for
7 Pilots for Patients; and
8 WHEREAS, the success of the state of Louisiana, the strength of our communities,
9 and the overall vitality of American society depend, in great measure, upon men like David
10 "Wayne" Petrus who use their time and own resources to help others in need.
11 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
12 commend and congratulate David "Wayne" Petrus on his numerous outstanding
13 accomplishments and for being named one of the top ten 2014 pilots for Pilots for Patients.
14 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
15 David "Wayne" Petrus.
