SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 60

COMMENDATIONS. Commends Frank Brothers on being named to the 2015 Louisiana
Sports Hall of Fame Induction Class.
1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2 To commend Frank Brothers on being named to the 2015 Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame
3 Induction Class.
4 WHEREAS, the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame in Natchitoches, Louisiana, each year
5 collaborates with the Louisiana Sports Writers Association in selecting a limited number of
6 sports figures who embody the character, skills, and talents worthy of being named to the
7 hall of fame; and
8 WHEREAS, the 2015 Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Induction Class includes New
9 Orleans native Frank Brothers; and
10 WHEREAS, Mr. Brothers was born October 24, 1946, and during a career spanning
11 more than four decades, has become a prominent and award-winning trainer of thoroughbred
12 horses; and
13 WHEREAS, in 1980, after ten years serving as an assistant to Hall of Famer Jack
14 Van Berg, he struck out on his own and was the lead trainer for the Louisiana Downs nine
15 times and the Fair Grounds in New Orleans on five occasions; and
16 WHEREAS, in the 1990s, he moved his operations to Kentucky and Oaklawn Park
17 in Arkansas, where his training abilities were honored with several prestigious awards,
18 including titles at Keeneland, Oakland Park, and Churchill Downs; and

1 WHEREAS, during his distinguished career, Frank Brothers has saddled two
2 thousand three hundred fifty-nine winners from ten thousand four hundred forty starters,
3 earned over forty-eight million in purse money from the time Equibase began keeping
4 statistics in 1974, and tallied three hundred forty-eight stake races and one hundred eighty-
5 eight graded stakes races, most notably the 1991 Preakness and Belmont Stakes; and
6 WHEREAS, he last trained in 2009, and now serves as a bloodstock agent; and
7 WHEREAS, the long and stellar career of Frank Brothers has earned him a place
8 among the many greats in the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame.
9 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
10 commend and congratulate Frank Brothers on being named to the 2015 Louisiana Sports
11 Hall of Fame Induction Class.
12 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Frank
13 Brothers.
