SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 77

LEGIS POWERS/FUNCTIONS. Recognizes May 18, 2015, as Forum 35 Day at the State
Capitol and commends the members of Forum 35.
1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2 To recognize Monday, May 18, 2015, as "Forum 35 Day" at the Louisiana State Capitol and
3 to commend the members of Forum 35.
4 WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend the members of Forum 35, a young
5 professional organization dedicated to improving and shaping Baton Rouge, for their
6 dedication to their core pillars of Arts and Culture, Diversity, and Leadership; and
7 WHEREAS, founded in 1993, Forum 35 has inspired young professionals to become
8 more involved with philanthropic organizations and activities; and
9 WHEREAS, throughout the past twenty-two years, Forum 35 has expanded
10 membership to over 450 members and 27 corporate partners; and
11 WHEREAS, Forum 35 hosts and participates in many valuable initiatives and events
12 including Art Melt, Cultural Diversity, Forum Friday, John W. Barton Sr. Community
13 Leadership Development Program, Uncorked, Viva il Vino, Reindeer Run, Public Education
14 Project, Service Committee, and various socials; and
15 WHEREAS, Forum 35 is committed to community service and actively contributes
16 to the educational, civic, and social life of the citizens of Baton Rouge and Louisiana; and
17 WHEREAS, in 2014 Forum 35 members spoke out on major issues, volunteered for
18 more than 3,500 hours in the community, and unveiled a new logo for the first time in their

1 history; and
2 WHEREAS, Forum 35 is currently finalizing a strategic plan to guide the
3 organization to a position of greater ability and prestige in the Baton Rouge community; and
4 WHEREAS, Forum 35 does not endorse candidates for public office, but does
5 encourage their members to vote, regardless of individual political beliefs; and
6 WHEREAS, Forum 35 Day at the state capitol allows members to speak with their
7 legislators to address issues that are pertinent to the Baton Rouge community and the state
8 of Louisiana.
9 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
10 recognize Monday, May 18, 2015, as "Forum 35 Day" at the Louisiana State Capitol and
11 does hereby commend and express enduring appreciation to the members of Forum 35 for
12 the tremendous honor and pride that they bring to the Baton Rouge community and the state
13 of Louisiana.
14 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
15 to the Forum 35 Board of Directors.
