SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 85
BY SENATOR ALARIO 
LEGIS POWERS/FUNCTIONS.  Designates May 13, 2015, as Louisiana Housing Council
Day at the Legislature of Louisiana.
1	A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2 To designate May 13, 2015, as "Louisiana Housing Council Day" at the Legislature of
3 Louisiana and commend the organization for its accomplishments.
4 WHEREAS, the Louisiana Housing Council is composed of over two hundred public
5 housing entities that are subdivided into six regions across the state; and
6 WHEREAS, the Louisiana Housing Council promotes and advances the availability
7 of affordable housing to approximately seventeen thousand low-income residents, of which
8 more than one-fourth are elderly and handicapped; and
9 WHEREAS, many of its member agencies provide a number of services related to
10 housing issues, which include job training, home ownership assistance, protective services,
11 child care, educational assistance, and youth services; and
12 WHEREAS, the Louisiana Housing Council strives to create stronger, more dynamic
13 communities and works together with other local agencies to enhance the quality of life for
14 citizens throughout the state; and
15 WHEREAS, the LHC awards scholarships to high school students based on academic
16 achievement, extracurricular activities, family need, and community involvement; and
17 WHEREAS, the organization honors the achievements of its outstanding members
18 who promote excellence in housing administration with exemplary leadership, high ethical

1 standards, and exceptional management skills with the presentation of the Philip W. Miller
2 award; and
3 WHEREAS, the council constantly strives to provide decent, safe, and sanitary
4 housing and to reduce crime, poor health, and blighted property, thereby benefitting society
5 as a whole; and
6 WHEREAS, the Louisiana Housing Council will hold its annual Legislative
7 Conference in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, May 12-15, 2015.
8 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
9 designate May 13, 2015, as "Louisiana Housing Council Day" at the Legislature.
10 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Louisiana Housing Council is hereby
11 commended for its outstanding accomplishments.
12 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
13 Kenneth Habetz, president of the Louisiana Housing Council.
