SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 87
BY SENATORS JOHNS AND MORRISH AND REPRESENTATIVES DANAHAY,
GEYMANN AND KLECKLEY 
CONDOLENCES.  Express condolences upon the death of James Leo McGough Sr.
1	A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2 To express the sincere condolences of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the death of James
3 Leo McGough Sr. of Lake Charles, Louisiana.
4 WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the members of the
5 Legislature of Louisiana have learned of the death of James Leo McGough Sr. on January
6 25, 2014, at the age of ninety-one; and 
7 WHEREAS, he was born January 7, 1923, in New Orleans, Louisiana, and was raised
8 in Alexandria, Louisiana; and
9 WHEREAS, James Leo McGough Sr. was a 1943 graduate of Bolton High School
10 and served his country as a member of the United States Army - Air Corps from 1943 to
11 1946 in the Pacific Theatre; and
12 WHEREAS, he grew up in Vinton, Louisiana, and moved to the Lake Charles area
13 in 1964, where he and his wife, Mary Faucett McGough, raised their family; and
14 WHEREAS, James Leo McGough Sr. graduated from the LSU School of Banking
15 and worked for Calcasieu Marine National Bank for over forty years where he retired in
16 1988 as president; and
17 WHEREAS, he was a past president of the Vinton Lions Club, the Pioneer Club, and
18 the West Calcasieu Chamber of Commerce and was a Mason; and

1 WHEREAS, he was also a member of the Young Men's Business Club and the
2 Kiwanis Club, and served as treasurer of the Louisiana Bankers' Association; and
3 WHEREAS, James Leo McGough Sr. was also a past president and member of the
4 Nation Board of Directors of the Texas-Louisiana National Association of Bank Auditors
5 and Comptrollers and a past president of the Southeast Region of the United States for the
6 Business Administration Institute; and
7 WHEREAS, he served on the St. Patrick Hospital's Board of Directors and was
8 serving on the Lake Charles Memorial Hospital Service District Board at the time of his
9 death; and
10 WHEREAS, he was a past member of the Krewe de La Famille; and
11 WHEREAS, James Leo McGough Sr. was a member of Oak Park United Methodist
12 Church where he served as treasurer and was a founding member of the Oak Park Cabana
13 Club, and was also a member of First United Methodist Church; and
14 WHEREAS, he was preceded in death by his wife of forty-eight years, Mary Faucett
15 McGough; daughter, Vickie McGough Long; parents, James Doty and Mary Kate Ford
16 McGough; and brother, Alfred Eugene McGough; and 
17 WHEREAS, James Leo McGough Sr. is survived by his son, Jim McGough; two
18 daughters, Pam McGough and Cindy O'Rourke and husband Michael; grandchildren, Zane
19 Long and wife Elizabeth, Mallory McGough, James Ian "Jase" McGough, Michael Colin
20 O'Rourke, Mary Katherine O'Rourke, and Margaret Anne O'Rourke; great-grandchildren,
21 Miranda and Conner Long and Breanna Bourque; nephews, Shawn Camara and family,
22 David Self and family, Don Faucett and family, James J. McGough, Eugene "Gene"
23 McGough and Steven McGough; nieces, Diane Hotvedt and family, Judy Camara and
24 family, Jackie McGough and Julie Brendmoen; and special family friends, Betty Emerson
25 and family; and
26 WHEREAS, the death of James Leo McGough Sr. has left a great void and created
27 a genuine sense of sorrow in his family, his friends, and all who had the opportunity to know
28 him, and he leaves behind a rich and unique legacy of hard work and dedication.
29 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
30 express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of James Leo McGough Sr. of Lake

1 Charles, does hereby recognize and record for posterity his notable accomplishments and
2 singular contributions, and does hereby extend enduring appreciation for the pride and honor
3 that this extraordinary man will forever bring to his family and friends, city, state, and
4 country.
5 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Jim
6 McGough, Pam McGough, and Cindy O'Rourke.
