SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 88

COMMENDATIONS. Commends the Sam Houston High School Lady Broncos Softball
team upon its 2015 State Championship.
1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2 To commend the Sam Houston High School Lady Broncos softball team on winning its
3 fourth state championship in five years.
4 WHEREAS, it is with great pride that the citizens of Louisiana have learned that the
5 Sam Houston High School Lady Broncos softball team won the 2015 Class 5A Girls High
6 School State Softball Championship; and
7 WHEREAS, in the championship game, the Lady Broncos defeated Dutchtown by
8 a score of 3-1 on May 2, 2015; and
9 WHEREAS, Lady Bronco players Taylor Edwards, Konner Richard, Abby Jolie,
10 Marcella Myers, Braylynn Poullard, Madigan Eldridge, Tanner Wright, Breanna Doucet,
11 Tayler Strother, Padyn Williams, Jayden Dukes, Madison Fontenot, Karlie White, Gabby
12 Myers, and Tori Wainwright finished the regular season with an impressive record of twenty
13 wins and two losses and entered the playoffs as the fifth seed; and
14 WHEREAS, junior pitcher, Tanner Wright was voted Most Valuable Player of the
15 state tournament; and
16 WHEREAS, Wright surrendered twenty hits and just two runs in all five playoff
17 games; and
18 WHEREAS, the distinguished team performance of the entire Sam Houston Lady

1 Broncos softball team throughout the regular season and the postseason has earned them the
2 Class 5A championship title; and
3 WHEREAS, the amazing accomplishments of the team could not have been achieved
4 without the guidance and skills of head coach, Beth Domingue, the assistant coaches, Selina
5 Barto and Jonathon Heflin, and the manager, Alexis Jones, as well as all of the other
6 individuals who have contributed to the success of the Lady Broncos softball program; and
7 WHEREAS, the members of the Legislature of Louisiana wish to recognize each of
8 the coaches, managers, and the extraordinary young women of the Lady Broncos on their
9 much deserved fourth championship title in five years which was earned through teamwork,
10 determination, and dedication to the sport of softball.
11 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
12 commend and congratulate the players and coaches of the Sam Houston Lady Broncos
13 softball team on an impressive and memorable season, and on capturing the Class 5A Girls
14 High School State Softball Championship.
15 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
16 head coach of the Sam Houston Lady Broncos, Beth Domingue, and to the principal of Sam
17 Houston High School, Shannon Foolkes.
