SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 93
BY SENATORS MORRISH, ADLEY, ALLAIN, AMEDEE, APPEL, BROOME,
BROWN, BUFFINGTON, CHABERT, CLAITOR, CORTEZ, CROWE,
DONAHUE, ERDEY, GALLOT, GUILLORY, HEITMEIER, JOHNS,
KOSTELKA, LAFLEUR, LONG, MARTINY, MILLS, MORRELL,
MURRAY, NEVERS, PEACOCK, PERRY, PETERSON, RISER,
GARY SMITH, TARVER, THOMPSON, WALSWORTH, WARD AND
WHITE 
COMMENDATIONS.  Commends local school board members and local school
superintendents for their service and dedication to the education of our children and for the
pivotal role they play in producing excellent public education.
1	A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2 To commend local school boards and superintendents throughout the state for their service
3 and dedication to the education of the children of Louisiana and for the pivotal role
4 they play in producing excellent public education.
5 WHEREAS, Louisiana school boards and their superintendents daily strive to fulfill
6 their mission of leadership, service, and support for local public schools; and
7 WHEREAS, school boards and local superintendents are assisted in their mission to
8 serve the citizens of Louisiana by the Louisiana School Boards Association which serves as
9 a source of information, support, and encouragement for school board members and local
10 superintendents alike; and
11 WHEREAS, it has been noted that efficient public schools are the foundation of
12 democracy, as they provide for a literate citizenry capable of understanding issues of
13 government and politics; and
14 WHEREAS, Louisiana's local school boards help determine local community goals
15 for the education of nearly 700,000 children in prekindergarten classes through the twelfth
16 grade; and
17 WHEREAS, Louisiana's school boards are dedicated to the premise that all citizens
18 must receive the finest education possible; and

1 WHEREAS, Louisiana's more than six hundred school board members, sitting on
2 sixty-nine boards for local school systems, act as advocates for public school students as
3 they work with administrators, teachers, and parents for the betterment of public education;
4 and
5 WHEREAS, Louisiana's sixty-nine school superintendents work closely with school
6 boards and all educational stakeholders in each community for the overall improvement of
7 public education; and
8 WHEREAS, school boards and superintendents strive to provide the resources and
9 support necessary to meet the needs of all students, including those with special needs; and
10 WHEREAS, school boards and superintendents in Louisiana provide accountability
11 to the public, they communicate the needs of the school district, and they convey to school
12 administrators the public's expectations for school performance; and
13 WHEREAS, the members of the Legislature of Louisiana appreciate the important
14 contributions of locally elected school board members and the leadership of school
15 superintendents.
16 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
17 commend local school boards and superintendents throughout the state for their service and
18 dedication to the education of the children of Louisiana and for the pivotal role they play in
19 producing excellent public education.
20 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Scott
21 Richard, executive director of the Louisiana School Boards Association.
