SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 106

SENATE.  Designates May 12, 2015, as Y Day in Louisiana.
1	A RESOLUTION
2 To designate May 12, 2015, as "Y Day in Louisiana".
3 WHEREAS, the commitment of Louisiana Ys is to nurture the potential of kids,
4 promote healthy living, and foster a sense of social responsibility; and
5 WHEREAS, the Louisiana Y's core values of caring, honesty, respect, and
6 responsibility unite them as a movement and guide their behavior, interactions with each
7 other, and decision making; and
8 WHEREAS, more than 100,000 children and adults throughout the state in Louisiana
9 Ys have access to the essentials necessary to learn, grow, and thrive; and
10 WHEREAS, Louisiana's Ys support the development of integrated, community-based
11 strategies for serving children and families; and
12 WHEREAS, Louisiana's Ys stand ready to support state government efforts to
13 provide developmental programs for youth, strengthen families, and mobilize and coordinate
14 broad efforts to support children and families through partnerships that meet community
15 needs; and
16 WHEREAS, on May 12, 2015, representatives of Louisiana's Ys will meet in the
17 Louisiana State Capitol with their legislators to discuss and exchange ideas on issues facing
18 youth and families.

1 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana that
2 May 12, 2015, is hereby designated as "Y Day in Louisiana".
3 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
4 chairman of the Louisiana Statewide Alliance of YMCAs.
