2015 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 113 BY SENATOR BROOME A RESOLUTION To designate Wednesday, May 13, 2015, as "Louisiana Housing Alliance Day" at the Louisiana State Capitol. WHEREAS, the Louisiana Housing Alliance (LHA) is a nonprofit statewide coalition working to ensure the preservation and production of quality affordable housing for low and moderate income Louisianians and those with special needs; and WHEREAS, formed in 2006, LHA is comprised of more than one hundred state and national organizations consisting of advocates, social service providers, housing producers, government officials, businesses and other stakeholders, and in support of the LHA mission, policymakers are encouraged to band together and vote for legislation that promotes affordable housing for everyone; and WHEREAS, LHA works to ensure Louisiana-based organizations are actively involved in the state's affordable housing service delivery strategy, and convenes advocacy leaders to review and give guidance on policy matters at both the state and federal level; and WHEREAS, the LHA works with the Louisiana Housing Corporation, the Division of Administration/Office of Community Development, the Louisiana Legislature, and other regulatory bodies advocating for appropriate levels of affordable and supportive housing in communities around the state experiencing a lack of quality affordable housing for Louisiana families with activities that include educating the wider field of stakeholders, supporters and potential donors on issues pertinent to their shared vision of a decent home for every family; and WHEREAS, LHA is the only housing policy and technical assistance organization operating statewide to support Louisiana's affordable housing partners, and therefore represents a unified voice for housing providers and advocates who provide services critical to the state's economic and social well-being; and Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 113 ENROLLED WHEREAS, the membership of LHA is made up of members from all nine regions of the state of Louisiana and other areas of the United States with a membership that includes affordable housing developers, service providers, investors, advocates, social service providers, housing authorities and other community stakeholders. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana hereby designates Wednesday, May 13, 2015, as "Louisiana Housing Alliance Day" at the Louisiana State Capitol.
