SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 129

COMMENDATIONS. Commends Cory Bahr on his many extraordinary accomplishments.
1 A RESOLUTION
2 To commend and congratulate Cory Bahr on his numerous contributions and extraordinary
3 accomplishments, on his inspiration to others, and on his individual promotion of
4 Louisiana and all the state has to offer.
5 WHEREAS, it is with great pride that the citizens of Louisiana and the Senate of the
6 Legislature of Louisiana recognize and honor Cory Bahr; and
7 WHEREAS, Cory Bahr was reared by his grandparents who he credits with teaching
8 him his life skills, how to grow a garden, hunt, fish, cook, can, and preserve foods, teaching
9 him the essentials to prepare wonderful and delicious southern dishes with flavorful and
10 local ingredients such as cornmeal, sweet potatoes, rabbits, venison, and duck eggs; and
11 WHEREAS, Cory has been instrumental in shining a spotlight on Louisiana culture
12 by winning "Chopped", the television show where chefs compete for prize money; being
13 crowned Louisiana Seafood King, which is a huge honor among chefs, and is a competition
14 held in New Orleans each year highlighting the seafood industry; winning the 2014 Diner's
15 Choice, 2015 Food and Wine's Best New Chef; and has recently been honored with the cover
16 of Louisiana Travel's official inspiration guide issue; and
17 WHEREAS, his fame has only spiraled upward since "Chopped" aired, first with the
18 opening of his restaurants Cotton's and then Nonna's; and

1 WHEREAS, he is not only a world renowned chef, but also an ambassador for
2 Louisiana's tourism and a booster for the Louisiana's seafood and agricultural industry; and
3 WHEREAS, his cuisine often highlights Louisiana's unique and rich culture, and
4 showcase what makes Louisiana a state unlike any other; and
5 WHEREAS, the success of the state of Louisiana, the strength of our communities,
6 and the overall vitality of American society depends, in great measure, upon the dedication
7 of people like Cory Bahr who use their considerable talents and Louisiana's rich resources
8 to promote tourism and increase economic growth for future generations.
9 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
10 does hereby commend and congratulate Cory Bahr on his numerous contributions and his
11 extraordinary accomplishments, and on his efforts to inspire others through his uniquely
12 southern cuisine while promoting the diverse heritage and culture that Louisiana and its
13 citizens have to offer to the rest of the world.
14 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
15 Cory Bahr.
