SLS 15RS-1970 ORIGINAL 2015 Regular Session SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 156 BY SENATOR MORRISH CONDOLENCES. Expresses condolences to the loved ones of Mr. Wilfred E. Fruge Sr. 1 A RESOLUTION 2 To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the 3 death of Wilfred E. Fruge Sr. of Evangeline, Louisiana. 4 WHEREAS, Fruge was born to Joseph and Ida Dietz Fruge on June 26, 1930, and 5 died on Monday, May 11, 2015, at his home in Evangeline; and 6 WHEREAS, at the time of his death, Fruge was eighty-four years old; and 7 WHEREAS, Mr. Fruge was a lifelong resident of Evangeline, Louisiana, and he 8 served in the United States Navy during the Korean War; and 9 WHEREAS, Mr. Fruge was self-employed and he worked in the oil fields his entire 10 adult life, beginning in the post-World War II world when the oil and gas business in 11 Louisiana was becoming a significant segment of Louisiana's economy and a driver of 12 prosperity throughout the state; and 13 WHEREAS, after working in the oil fields for several years, Mr. Fruge founded his 14 own company in the late 1950s known as Evangeline Energy Operating Company and, also, 15 Master Well Works, Incorporated, which has re-invented itself as a renovation and home 16 improvement company; and 17 WHEREAS, Mr. Fruge's deep commitment to the exploration and production of 18 Louisiana's rich resources of oil and gas led him to assist in founding the Louisiana Page 1 of 3 SR NO. 156 SLS 15RS-1970 ORIGINAL 1 Independent Oil and Gas Association (LIOGA), which is known today as the Louisiana Oil 2 and Gas Association (LOGA); and 3 WHEREAS, LOGA remains active in affecting government regulation of the oil and 4 gas business and urges government to strive to provide the industry with a working 5 environment that will enhance the industry and to educate the public and government on the 6 importance of the oil and gas industry in the state of Louisiana; and 7 WHEREAS, Mr. Fruge has been active in supporting legislation that would provide 8 a regulatory environment conducive to the exploration and production of oil and gas in 9 Louisiana; and 10 WHEREAS, family was very important to Mr. Fruge and he and his late wife, Elva 11 Hanks Fruge, took great pride in their three daughters, Kathy Fruge Touchet, Carla Fruge 12 Hancock, and Jacqueline Fruge and one son, Wil Fruge, and many grandchildren and great- 13 grandchildren all of whom brought Fruge much joy and happiness; and 14 WHEREAS, Mr. Fruge spent much of his life outdoors, whether working in oil and 15 gas production or enjoying his leisure activities, especially hunting and fishing in the wilds 16 of Louisiana; and 17 WHEREAS, Wilfred Fruge was a quintessential Louisiana man, a hard worker, a 18 Navy man who served his country bravely, a man committed to bettering his state through 19 the tapping of the state's rich resources of oil and gas, a family man whose multi- 20 generational family brought him boundless joy, and a sportsman who relished in the bounty 21 of Louisiana's forests and waters. 22 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana 23 does hereby express sincere condolences upon the death of Wilfred E. Fruge Sr. of 24 Evangeline, Louisiana. 25 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to 26 Wilfred Fruge's children through Wil Fruge of Evangeline, Louisiana.
