SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 163
BY SENATOR NEVERS 
COMMENDATIONS.  Commends Jeremy Joseph Braud of Baton Rouge on his many
athletic accomplishments in tennis.
1	A RESOLUTION
2 To commend Jeremy Joseph Braud for his many accomplishments in competitive tennis, for
3 his impressive play in Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA)
4 Division II boys tennis state championships, and on receipt of a full athletic
5 scholarship to play tennis from Troy University in Alabama.
6 WHEREAS, Jeremy Joseph Braud is a left-hander and four-year varsity player from
7 St. Michael the Archangel High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, with a 14-1 winning
8 record for the 2015 season; and
9 WHEREAS, Mr. Braud was a Region 2 finalist all four years of high school and a
10 state finalist in 2012-2013; and
11 WHEREAS, in 2015, according to TennisRecruiting.net, Jeremy is ranked as the
12 number three recruit in the state of Louisiana, ranked in the low 40's in the Gulf States
13 region, ranked seventieth in the Southern States region, and ranked among the top three
14 hundred high school seniors in the nation; and
15 WHEREAS, as a shy ten year old, Jeremy picked up his first tennis racquet, walked
16 onto the tennis court, and proceeded to hone his skills to become a top-notch tennis player;
17 and
18 WHEREAS, in the years that followed, Jeremy faced many opponents who were

1 larger in stature and older in age; however, he was never intimidated, his confidence never
2 waned, and his focus never wavered; and
3 WHEREAS, his proud parents, Jeannette and Randy Braud, nurtured his passion for
4 the sport and sacrificed their time to attend his endless practice sessions and to travel to all
5 his matches in high school and numerous competitions that included trips to the United
6 States Tennis Association South Region Junior Tennis Tournaments; and
7 WHEREAS, at St. Michael, Jeremy's outstanding abilities have contributed to state
8 championships in Louisiana High School Athletic Association, Division II play for three
9 years and as state runner-up in 2015; and
10 WHEREAS, before graduation, Jeremy received the St. Michael Warrior Tradition
11 Award for tennis, an award issued to a single outstanding individual who displays the best
12 attributes of character, teamwork, determination, good sportsmanship, and a positive attitude
13 on the court; and
14 WHEREAS, locally, Jeremy was twice named to both the All-Metro Baton Rouge
15 tennis team and the All-Metro New Orleans tennis team; and
16 WHEREAS, Jeremy Braud possesses all the finest qualities of athletic ability,
17 physical fitness, determination, and competitive spirit that make a winner on the court, and
18 he sets a fine example for other young aspiring tennis players.
19 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
20 does hereby commend Jeremy Joseph Braud for his many accomplishments in competitive
21 tennis and congratulate him on receipt of an athletics scholarship to Troy University.
22 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
23 Jeremy Joseph Braud.
