COMMENDATIONS. Commends former Bogalusa City Councilman Daniel "Danny" D.
Stogner for his dedicated and enthusiastic public service to the people of Bogalusa.
1 A RESOLUTION
2 To commend former Bogalusa City Councilman Daniel "Danny" D. Stogner for his
3 dedicated and enthusiastic public service to the people of Bogalusa.
4 WHEREAS, Daniel "Danny" D. Stogner, the son of Donice Stogner and Jean
5 Hollingsworth Stogner, is a proud resident of Bogalusa, Louisiana; and
6 WHEREAS, in 1998, the Bogalusa residents of District E elected Danny Stogner to
7 serve as their city councilman, an office which he held from 1998 through 2006; and
8 WHEREAS, from 2007 through 2010, Danny Stogner was elected and served as the
9 Councilman at Large on the Bogalusa City Council; and
10 WHEREAS, during those twelve years in public office, Danny Stogner served two
11 terms as president of the Bogalusa City Council, two terms as the council's vice president,
12 and twelve years on the council's Finance Committee, Landfill Committee, and Airport
13 Committee, respectively; and
14 WHEREAS, Danny Stogner has been instrumental in working along with the citizens
15 of Bogalusa to bring significant improvements to the city including: replacing the old airport
16 ballpark with a new Bogalusa Little League complex; completing a major land purchase for
17 the airport to extend a runway and install an emergency generator; cleaning up over sixty
18 lots and abandoned houses and improving the cemeteries in Bogalusa with new blacktop and

1 water lines; helping to enable the Bogalusa Police Department to acquire a K-9 unit and dog;
2 and working with local, state and federal officials to keep the Poole's Bluff Landing open
3 to the public; and
4 WHEREAS, Danny Stogner has exhibited strong leadership values during his terms
5 as an elected official, particularly during and throughout the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina,
6 one of the most devastating events in Louisiana history; and
7 WHEREAS, during and after the devastating arrival of Hurricane Katrina, one of the
8 most challenging times in Bogalusa's history, Danny Stogner worked tirelessly to make sure
9 the people in the region had ongoing access to the essential necessities of life, including
10 water, food, and emergency care; and
11 WHEREAS, Danny Stogner has served the people of Bogalusa unselfishly and has
12 been a hard-working and dedicated public servant for the people he represented during his
13 time in public office.
14 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
15 does hereby commend former Bogalusa City Councilman Daniel "Danny" D. Stogner for his
16 dedicated and enthusiastic public service to the people of Bogalusa.
17 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
18 Daniel "Danny" D. Stogner.
