Expresses condolences on the death of Christopher "Chris" San Marco. 1 A RESOLUTION 2 To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the 3 death of Christopher "Chris" San Marco. 4 WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the citizens of Arabi and 5 New Orleans, Louisiana, learned of the death of Mr. San Marco on Tuesday, May 26, 2015, 6 at the age of seventy-nine; and 7 WHEREAS, Mr. San Marco was a native of New Orleans and a resident of Arabi; 8 and 9 WHEREAS, he was the son of the late Dominick and Conchetta DiFatta San Marco; 10 and 11 WHEREAS, he was the husband of Mary Matthews San Marco for forty-nine years 12 and together they raised two children: Christopher San Marco Jr. and Teresa San Marco 13 Ready; and 14 WHEREAS, Mr. San Marco had one grand daughter, Mary Elizabeth Ready; and 15 WHEREAS, Mr. San Marco retired as a Chief Warrant Officer 3 from the United 16 States Army after serving his country proudly for twenty-nine years; and 17 WHEREAS, Mr. San Marco was a invaluable asset to the United States Army and 18 mentored many young soldiers throughout his military career; and Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 186 SLS 15RS-2779 ORIGINAL 1 WHEREAS, his many years of selfless service to his country and living by the Army 2 value system truly exemplified the definition of Army Pride; and 3 WHEREAS, Mr. San Marco was a member of the St. Bernard Economic 4 Development Commission, the St. Bernard Chamber of Commerce, a former president of 5 the St. Bernard Alliance for Good Government, the Krewe of Endymion, the Knights of 6 Columbus, and the parish of Our Lady of Prompt Succor in Chalmette; and 7 WHEREAS, Mr. San Marco was known to always have a smile on his face and 8 always offered to lend a helping hand; and 9 WHEREAS, Mr. San Marco spent many years as a tour guide for Dixie Tours in New 10 Orleans; and 11 WHEREAS, Mr. San Marco even gave tours post Hurricane Katrina and played a 12 vital role in rebuilding the tourism industry in New Orleans; and 13 WHEREAS, Mr. San Marco leaves behind a rich legacy in the United States Army, 14 in his family, and his community and will be fondly remembered by the many lives he 15 touched over the years; and 16 WHEREAS, Mr. San Marco's warmness and generosity will be missed, and his 17 leadership within his community will always be remembered and appreciated. 18 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana 19 does hereby express its sincere condolences upon the death of Christopher "Chris" San 20 Marco, and does hereby record for posterity the enduring appreciation held by the citizens 21 of Louisiana for his contributions to the tourism industry, the numerous visitors to New 22 Orleans who he encountered and touched with his warm heart and endearing smile, and his 23 country for the years of service he provided in the United States Army. 24 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the 25 wife and children of Mr. San Marco.
