Urges the Senate Committee on Commerce, Consumer Protection and International Affairs to study the laws governing motor vehicle commissions in the United States. 1 A RESOLUTION 2 To urge and request the Senate Committee on Commerce, Consumer Protection and 3 International Affairs to study laws governing the Louisiana Motor Vehicle 4 Commission and similar commissions in the United States. 5 WHEREAS, the Louisiana Motor Vehicle Commission ("commission") consists of 6 eighteen members and has jurisdiction over the sale and distribution of new motor vehicles 7 and recreational products; and 8 WHEREAS, the distribution and sale of motor vehicles and recreational products in 9 the state vitally affects the general economy of the state, the public interest, and the public 10 welfare; and 11 WHEREAS, it is necessary to regulate and license those persons engaged in such 12 business in Louisiana in order to ensure compliance with law and to prevent fraud, 13 imposition, and abuse upon the citizens of Louisiana; and 14 WHEREAS, it is prudent and in the best interests of the state to review and study 15 how laws in other states govern this important industry in comparison to the laws in 16 Louisiana. 17 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana 18 does hereby urge and request the Senate Committee on Commerce, Consumer Protection and Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 210 SLS 15RS-3780 ORIGINAL 1 International Affairs to study the laws governing the Louisiana Motor Vehicle Commission 2 and similar commissions in the United States.
