SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 22

CONDOLENCES. Expresses condolences upon the death of Christine Bannister.
1 A RESOLUTION
2 To express the sincere and heartfelt condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of
3 Louisiana upon the death of Christine Bannister.
4 WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the citizens of Louisiana
5 learned of the death of Christine Bannister on January 25, 2015, at the age of sixty; and
6 WHEREAS, Christine was a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, graduated from
7 Istrouma High School, and attended Louisiana State University; and
8 WHEREAS, she served downtown workers for approximately twenty years with
9 home-style cooking at her restaurant, Christina's, on St. Charles Street in Baton Rouge; and
10 WHEREAS, Christine was a familiar face to many through the years cooking catfish,
11 rice and gravy, and a variety of lunches and breakfast items at Christina's; and
12 WHEREAS, she loved to cook for everyone, including her family, friends, and
13 customers; and
14 WHEREAS, her customers were very important to her and she greeted them with a
15 smile and a kind word; and
16 WHEREAS, before pursuing her dream of opening a restaurant, Christine worked
17 in various departments at the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office; and
18 WHEREAS, she is survived by her fiancé, Kyle Beck; her mother, Rosa Bannister;

1 one brother, Mike Bannister; two sisters, Dixie Bannister Roberts and Arminea Bannister;
2 four nephews and one niece; and
3 WHEREAS, with the death of Christine Bannister, Louisiana has lost one of its finest
4 citizens who was admired by all whose lives she touched and is greatly missed; and
5 WHEREAS, Christine's passing has left a tremendous void in the Baton Rouge
6 community, but her love, smile, and personality shall remain eternal in the hearts and minds
7 of her loved ones, friends, customers, and all who had the opportunity to meet and know her.
8 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
9 does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of Christine Bannister,
10 and does hereby extend enduring appreciation for the pride and honor that this wonderful
11 lady brought to her family, friends, community, and state.
12 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
13 family of Christine Bannister.
