SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 220
BY SENATORS WALSWORTH, KOSTELKA, RISER AND THOMPSON 
SECRETARY OF STATE.  Requests the secretary of state's office present a plan of
transition for the Chennault Aviation and Military Museum.
1	A RESOLUTION
2 To urge and request the secretary of state to submit by January 1, 2016, to the Senate and
3 Governmental Affairs Committee an orderly plan for the complete transition of
4 governing authority of the Chennault Aviation and Military Museum from the
5 Department of State to the Friends of the Chennault Aviation and Military Museum.
6 WHEREAS, Claire Lee Chennault was born on September 6, 1893, to Mr. John
7 Stonewall Jackson and Mrs. Jessie Chennault and was raised in rural Gilbert, Louisiana; and
8 WHEREAS, General Chennault earned his wings from the U.S. Army Air Corps in
9 1919 and would go on to become the Chief of Pursuit Section at Air Corps Tactical School
10 in the 1930s; and
11 WHEREAS, the Chennault Aviation and Military Museum, located in Monroe,
12 Louisiana, is committed to upholding the legacy of General Chennault through education
13 and promotion of military and aviation history.
14 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
15 does hereby urge and request the secretary of state to submit by January 1, 2016, to the
16 Senate and Governmental Affairs Committee an orderly plan for the complete transition of
17 governing authority of the Chennault Aviation and Military Museum from the Department
18 of State to the Friends of the Chennault Aviation and Military Museum.
