SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 229
BY SENATORS GALLOT AND TARVER 
NURSES.  Directs the La. State Board of Nursing to make limited exceptions to the policy
known as the "eighty percent rule" for certain schools.
1	A RESOLUTION
2 To direct the Louisiana State Board of Nursing to make limited exceptions, on an emergency
3 basis, to the policy known as the "eighty percent rule" for certain schools.
4 WHEREAS, Chapter 11 of Title 37 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950,
5 comprised of R.S. 37:911 et seq., creates the Louisiana State Board of Nursing and provides
6 for the regulation of the practice of nursing in this state; and
7 WHEREAS, R.S. 24:177(B) provides, in pertinent part, that the legislature may
8 express the intended meaning of laws in a resolution.
9 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
10 does hereby direct the Louisiana State Board of Nursing to make limited exceptions, on an
11 emergency basis, to the policy known as the "eighty percent rule" for any school that has
12 presented a plan for restructuring its curriculum.
13 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
14 executive director of the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
