Commends Leanne Reese Easterling on being crowned Miss Louisiana Junior Pre-Teen Cover Girl at the 2014 Louisiana National American Miss Pageant. 1 A RESOLUTION 2 To commend and congratulate Leanne Reese Easterling on being crowned Miss Louisiana 3 Junior Pre-Teen Cover Girl at the 2014 Louisiana National American Miss Pageant. 4 WHEREAS, National American Miss was founded in 2003 and is the frontrunner in 5 growing confidence in girls between the ages of four and eighteen in the United States; and 6 WHEREAS, it is considered the largest youth organization for young ladies in the 7 United States and is dedicated to celebrating America's greatness and encouraging its future 8 leaders; and 9 WHEREAS, each year, the National American Miss Pageant awards one million 10 dollars in cash, scholarships, and prizes to recognize and assist the development of young 11 women nationwide; and 12 WHEREAS, to become a state finalist, a contestant must participate in an interview, 13 maintain academic excellence, and be actively involved in her community; and 14 WHEREAS, the competition consists of formal wear, personal introduction, 15 interview, and community involvement, and each age division may crown a queen and a 16 cover girl; and 17 WHEREAS, in the Junior Pre-Teen division, which encompasses ages seven through 18 eight, Leanne Reese Easterling was crowned Miss Louisiana Junior Pre-Teen Cover Girl at Page 1 of 3 SR NO. 29 SLS 15RS-602 ORIGINAL 1 the state pageant in May 2014; and 2 WHEREAS, she was invited to participate in the national competition in Anaheim, 3 California, in November and received the national Cover Girl title for outstanding program 4 participation in her age group; and 5 WHEREAS, since being crowned Miss Louisiana Junior Pre-Teen Cover Girl, Reese 6 has volunteered at the local animal shelter where she provided toys and treats to dogs and 7 cats and assisted in preparing the animals for adoption; and 8 WHEREAS, she visited with Governor Jindal at the governor's mansion, had tea and 9 cookies, and discussed her faith and her desire to assist in finding loving homes for animals 10 in shelters; and 11 WHEREAS, Reese met with Senator Sharon Weston Broome on the set of The 12 Around Town Show, and also met with Livingston Parish President Layton Ricks at his 13 office; and 14 WHEREAS, she appeared at a Livingston Parish City Council meeting and was 15 introduced by Mr. Ricks as a state title holder; and 16 WHEREAS, Reese rode as Louisiana royalty in the Louisiana State University 17 homecoming parade, the Denham Springs Christmas parade, and the Denham Springs Mardi 18 Gras parade with Miss Louisiana Tyron'E Hawkins; and 19 WHEREAS, she visited the women at the Mercy Ministries home in West Monroe 20 and presented them with flowers and gifts for Valentine's Day; and 21 WHEREAS, in her spare time, Reese loves to serve in her church and attends open 22 calls in Baton Rouge and Gretna to share her experiences with newcomers to the pageant 23 circuit; and 24 WHEREAS, Leanne Reese Easterling is a shining star for the state of Louisiana and 25 her accomplishments have prepared her for a very promising future. 26 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana 27 does hereby commend and congratulate Leanne Reese Easterling on her notable 28 achievements and accomplishments, and does hereby extend to her best wishes for continued 29 success and happiness in all of her future endeavors. 30 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Page 2 of 3 SR NO. 29 SLS 15RS-602 ORIGINAL 1 Leanne Reese Easterling.
