CONDOLENCES. Expresses condolences of the Louisiana Senate upon the death of
Louisiana Army National Guard Specialist Desmond Dershon Desdunes.
1 A RESOLUTION
2 To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana to the
3 family of Louisiana Army National Guard Specialist Desmond Dershon Desdunes
4 upon his death.
5 WHEREAS, Desmond Dershon Desdunes was a twenty-two year old resident of
6 Prairie View, Louisiana, and a specialist in the Louisiana Army National Guard; and
7 WHEREAS, Specialist Desdunes was a good soldier and fit well with military life,
8 making friends and quickly receiving promotions in rank during his service; and
9 WHEREAS, on Thursday, June 7, 2014, Specialist Desdunes was with a fellow
10 soldier, Private First Class Joshua Miller, both members of the 108
th
Calvary stationed at
11 Fort Humbug in Shreveport, and swimming in the Red River when tragedy struck and
12 Specialist Desdunes drowned in the river's dark waters.
13 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
14 does hereby extend its most sincere and profound condolences to the family of Louisiana
15 Army National Guard Specialist Desmond Dershon Desdunes for their immeasurable loss
16 and his dedicated military service on behalf of his state and country.
17 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
18 family of Specialist Desdunes.
