Maurin for being honored as Tulane's Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year. 1 A RESOLUTION 2 To commend commercial real estate developer James E. Maurin for being named as 3 Tulane's Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year. 4 WHEREAS, James E. Maurin grew up in Hammond, Louisiana, and earned a 5 bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering from Louisiana State University (LSU) in 1970; 6 in 1972 he acquired a Master of Business Administration from Tulane University and began 7 a career as a certified public accountant with the international accounting office of Ernst & 8 Ernst; and 9 WHEREAS, after meeting Lillian Crosby, the love of his life, in college, they 10 married and developed a thirty-six year and growing partnership with three daughters, Carla, 11 Caroline, and Marli, and four grandchildren; and 12 WHEREAS, in 1975, he became a real estate development partner with Roger 13 Ogden, founding the firm Maurin-Ogden; later changing the name to Stirling Properties and 14 serving as its chairman administering business solutions that include brokerage services, 15 development and redevelopment acquisitions, investments, and property and asset 16 management over diverse property types; and 17 WHEREAS, he is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) 18 board of trustees, and previously served as vice president of the ICSC southern division and Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 72 SLS 15RS-831 ORIGINAL 1 state director of Louisiana in 2004; he received ICSC's professional designation of Certified 2 Shopping Center Managers and Certified Shopping Center Executives; and 3 WHEREAS, Mr. Maurin is former chairman and a member of the Urban Land 4 Institute (ULI), the World President's Organization (WPO), the Committee of 100, the 5 Tulane University Business School Council, the LSU Foundation, the LSU Tiger Athletic 6 Foundation (TAF), and the LSU E. J. Ourso College of Business Dean's Advisory Council; 7 and 8 WHEREAS, at LSU, he serves as chairman of the LSU Tiger Stadium Expansion 9 Committee and a member of the LSU TAF Advisory Board; a past chairman and a member 10 of the board of Ochsner Health System Foundation Hospital in New Orleans; and 11 WHEREAS, Mr. Maurin served as chairman and a member of the board of directors 12 for ULI's Louisiana District Council, a member of the ULI Small Scale Development 13 Council, and past chairman and a member of WPO's Louisiana Chapter; and 14 WHEREAS, he was a creator, past chairman and a member of Blueprint Louisiana 15 and past chairman, and a member of the board of directors for the Northshore Community 16 Foundation; and 17 WHEREAS, Mr. Maurin is a member of the board of trustees of the National World 18 War II Museum; a member of the Chief Executives Organizations, and remains a member 19 of the Tulane University Freeman Business School Council. 20 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana 21 does hereby commend James E. Maurin as Tulane's Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year. 22 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to 23 James E. Maurin.
