2015 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 72 BY SENATOR DONAHUE A RESOLUTION To commend commercial real estate developer James E. Maurin for being named as Tulane's Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year. WHEREAS, James E. Maurin grew up in Hammond, Louisiana, and earned a bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering from Louisiana State University (LSU) in 1970; in 1972 he acquired a Master of Business Administration from Tulane University and began a career as a certified public accountant with the international accounting office of Ernst & Ernst; and WHEREAS, after meeting Lillian Crosby, the love of his life, in college, they married and developed a thirty-six year and growing partnership with three daughters, Carla, Caroline, and Marli, and four grandchildren; and WHEREAS, in 1975, he became a real estate development partner with Roger Ogden, founding the firm Maurin-Ogden; later changing the name to Stirling Properties and serving as its chairman administering business solutions that include brokerage services, development and redevelopment acquisitions, investments, and property and asset management over diverse property types; and WHEREAS, he is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) board of trustees, and previously served as vice president of the ICSC southern division and state director of Louisiana in 2004; he received ICSC's professional designation of Certified Shopping Center Managers and Certified Shopping Center Executives; and WHEREAS, Mr. Maurin is former chairman and a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI), the World President's Organization (WPO), the Committee of 100, the Tulane University Business School Council, the LSU Foundation, the LSU Tiger Athletic Foundation (TAF), and the LSU E. J. Ourso College of Business Dean's Advisory Council; and WHEREAS, at LSU, he serves as chairman of the LSU Tiger Stadium Expansion Committee and a member of the LSU TAF Advisory Board; a past chairman and a member of the board of Ochsner Health System Foundation Hospital in New Orleans; and Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 72 ENROLLED WHEREAS, Mr. Maurin served as chairman and a member of the board of directors for ULI's Louisiana District Council, a member of the ULI Small Scale Development Council, and past chairman and a member of WPO's Louisiana Chapter; and WHEREAS, he was a creator, past chairman and a member of Blueprint Louisiana and past chairman, and a member of the board of directors for the Northshore Community Foundation; and WHEREAS, Mr. Maurin is a member of the board of trustees of the National World War II Museum; a member of the Chief Executives Organizations, and remains a member of the Tulane University Freeman Business School Council. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend James E. Maurin as Tulane's Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year.
