SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 75

COMMENDATIONS. Commends Shirley Lee Davis Holliday upon the occasion of her
seventieth birthday.
1 A RESOLUTION
2 To commend Shirley Lee Davis Holliday upon the celebration of her seventieth birthday.
3 WHEREAS, on the occasion of her seventieth birthday, it is appropriate that sincere
4 and heartfelt congratulations be extended to Shirley Lee Davis Holliday as her lifetime of
5 outstanding devotion to her family and community is celebrated; and
6 WHEREAS, on May 6, 1945, Ms. Holliday was born in East Feliciana Parish as the
7 fifteenth child of sixteen children to Benjamin and Pearline Myles Davis; and
8 WHEREAS, Ms. Holliday attended Old Riley Elementary School and East High
9 School in Clinton, Louisiana; and
10 WHEREAS, Ms. Holliday was married to the late Willie John Holliday, and they had
11 seven children, Sarah, Willie, Jr., Wanza, Sherri, Terri, Charles, and Linda; and
12 WHEREAS, Ms. Holliday is an active member and serves as a deaconess at New
13 Hope Baptist Church in Blairstown, Louisiana; and
14 WHEREAS, she is the loving grandmother to seventeen grandchildren, has twelve
15 great-grandchildren, and she is known for her amazing attitude and love for her family,
16 friends, and community; and
17 WHEREAS, for the past seventy years, Ms. Holliday has distinguished herself as an
18 exemplary woman, who is sensitive and full of laughter and love, and who has provided

1 stability within her family; and
2 WHEREAS, Ms. Holliday merits a special measure of commendation for the
3 tremendous pride and honor she brings to East Baton Rouge Parish and to all who know and
4 love her.
5 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
6 does hereby commend Shirley Lee Davis Holliday upon the celebrated and memorable
7 occasion of her seventieth birthday; does hereby extend enduring appreciation for the pride
8 and joy she brings to her family, friends, community, and state; and does hereby extend to
9 her best wishes for continued happiness in her future.
10 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
11 Shirley Lee Davis Holliday.
