Recognizes May 5, 2015, as Bankers Day at the Louisiana State Capitol. 1 A RESOLUTION 2 To recognize May 5, 2015, as "Bankers Day" at the Louisiana State Capitol. 3 WHEREAS, since 1900, the Louisiana Bankers Association (LBA) has diligently 4 represented the interests of banks and thrifts operating in Louisiana; and 5 WHEREAS, LBA's current membership is 141 banks and thrifts, including both state 6 and federal chartered entities and both small and large institutions; the largest group of 7 LBA's membership is locally-based community banks; and 8 WHEREAS, LBA's mission is to help banks operating in the state grow and prosper 9 by primarily focusing on government relations and education; and 10 WHEREAS, LBA's state government relations efforts include drafting legislation, 11 supporting and opposing legislation, testifying before legislative committees, and building 12 constructive coalitions with other industry groups; and 13 WHEREAS, LBA also works closely with the Louisiana Congressional Delegation 14 and banking regulators; and 15 WHEREAS, LBA is a member-driven organization with a Government Relations 16 Council that includes representation from all members, which assists the LBA Board of 17 Directors in the development of the association's positions on important banking issues; and 18 WHEREAS, LBA's education arm offers a wide variety of services to meet members' Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 90 SLS 15RS-1296 ORIGINAL 1 specific training needs, including seminars, conferences, in-house programs, educational 2 products, and online classes; and 3 WHEREAS, thousands of bankers, ranging from front-line staff to bank directors, 4 attend LBA's workshops and conferences each year; and 5 WHEREAS, the Louisiana Bankers Education Foundation, a subsidiary of the 6 Louisiana Bankers Association, exists to promote banking and financial literacy in 7 Louisiana; and 8 WHEREAS, on May 5, 2015, the LBA will host its annual Bankers Day at the 9 Louisiana State Capitol with numerous bankers from around Louisiana attending. 10 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana 11 does hereby recognize May 5, 2015, as "Bankers Day" at the Louisiana State Capitol. 12 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the 13 chief executive officer of the Louisiana Bankers Association.
