[R.S. 1:13(B) and 24:177(E)] HR 1 Original 2016 First Extraordinary Session Reynolds Abstract: Prohibits a member from voting or changing a vote after the result has been announced. Provides that a motion to suspend the prohibition is a debatable motion. Present House Rule provides that in the case of a roll call vote, any member may vote or change his vote, after the vote-recording equipment has started, or the roll has been called, by rising in his seat and announcing his vote before the result of the vote has been announced by the presiding officer. Present House Rule further provides that a member may seek consent to correct a vote record, and consent shall only be requested and granted on the same legislative day on which the vote was taken. Provides that a motion to seek consent to correct a vote record shall be a debatable motion. Proposed House Rule removes the provisions relative to allowing a member to seek consent to correct a vote record and instead prohibits a member from voting or changing a vote after the result is announced. Further provides that any motion to suspend the proposed House Rule shall be a debatable motion. (Amends House Rule 10.8(B))
