ENROLLED 2016 First Extraordinary Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 10 BY REPRESENTATIVE WHITE A RESOLUTION To commend Willie B. Peters upon the celebration of his sixty-first birthday. WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend Willie B. Peters upon the joyous and momentous occasion of his sixty-first birthday; and WHEREAS, Mr. Peters was born on March 2, 1955, in Bogalusa; and WHEREAS, he attended Wesley Ray High School; as a young man living in the country, Mr. Peters milked cows, worked in the cotton fields, and picked corn and peas; and WHEREAS, on February 3, 1974, he married Kathy E. Peters; they are the proud parents of Cheryl R. Peters Walker, Tammy R. Peters, Marlon J. Peters, and Willie B. Peters, III; they also have sixteen grandchildren and one great-granddaugther; and WHEREAS, Mr. Peters is a faithful member of Center Baptist Church, where he serves as the chairperson of the pulpit committee and as treasurer; he is also a deacon, musician, and guitarist; and WHEREAS, during the construction of the new sanctuary for Center Baptist Church, Mr. Peters served as the construction supervisor; he has been an instrumental figure in his community by building homes and offering training and employment to community members; and WHEREAS, during the 1980s and 1990s, Mr. Peters was a volunteer with the fire department; since the summer of 1989, he has worked as a volunteer deputy with the Washington Parish Sheriff's Office; and WHEREAS, Mr. Peters also serves on the Wesley Ray Community Park board of directors and is the elected treasurer; and WHEREAS, throughout his extraordinary life, Mr. Peters has been an excellent citizen of the state of Louisiana and an outstanding husband, father, sibling, and friend; and Page 1 of 2 HR NO. 10 ENROLLED WHEREAS, Willie B. Peters merits a special measure of commendation for his accomplishments and for the tremendous joy that he brings to all who know and love him. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Willie B. Peters upon the celebration of his sixty-first birthday; does hereby recognize and record for posterity his outstanding accomplishments and singular contributions throughout his illustrious life; and does hereby extend enduring appreciation for the pride and honor that this wonderful man brings to his family, friends, and community and to the state of Louisiana.
