SPECIAL DAY/WEEK/MONTH: Recognizes Saturday, March 12, 2016, as Sigma Gamma
Rho Sorority Youth Day
1 A RESOLUTION
2To recognize Saturday, March 12, 2016, as Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Youth Day in the
3 state of Louisiana.
4 WHEREAS, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., is a 90,000-member nonprofit
5collegiate sorority dedicated to the encouragement and promotion of high scholastic
6achievement, community service, and improvement in the quality of life through its chapters,
7members, and affiliates located throughout the United States, Korea, Bermuda, Africa,
8Bahamas, Germany, Canada, and the Caribbean; and
9 WHEREAS, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., through its programs and projects,
10seeks to address concerns that impact society educationally, socially, politically, and
11economically; and
12 WHEREAS, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., is sponsoring its nineteenth annual
13Adolescent Youth Symposium, held simultaneously in local communities across the nation
14on Saturday, March 12, 2016; and
15 WHEREAS, the local members of Mu Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho
16Sorority, Inc., will hold their symposium at True Light Baptist Church; and
17 WHEREAS, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., has called upon the participation of
18a panel of community authorities to share facts regarding some of the consequences that may
19be faced by young people who have self esteem and peer pressure issues; and
20 WHEREAS, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., is requesting all junior and senior
21high schools, sororities and fraternities, social and civic organizations, and youth services

1agencies to support this symposium by promoting the attendance and participation of their
2students and youth groups.
3 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
4Legislature of Louisiana does hereby proclaim Saturday, March 12, 2016, to be Sigma
5Gamma Rho Sorority Youth Day in the state of Louisiana.
6 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the members of the House of Representatives
7congratulate and recognize the members of Mu Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho
8Sorority, Inc., for their efforts to encourage and guide our young people and wish the chapter
9and sorority much success in all of their future endeavors.
10 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
11to the president of Mu Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.
