ENROLLED 2016 First Extraordinary Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 16 BY REPRESENTATIVE BILLIOT A RESOLUTION To commend the Reverend Damian Brown for his service as pastor of Little Zion Baptist Church of Avondale. WHEREAS, Kerry Brown, Sr., and Diane Davis Brown were the vessels used by God to bring Damian Brown into the world and to provide the foundations of his faith; and WHEREAS, in 1993, Damian Brown was baptized into the family of God at Second St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Avondale, where he accepted the call to ministry and received his license to preach under the leadership of the late Reverend Vernon Joshua; and WHEREAS, Minister Brown followed the guidance of the Holy Spirit in 2004 and was led to First Pilgrims Baptist Church, where he was allowed to exercise his ministry gifts in Christian education, served as the new members coordinator, was a Sunday school superintendent and assistant to the pastor, and practiced the vocation of his licensure through preaching the Word; and WHEREAS, at the unction of the Holy Spirit, the Reverend Brown joined the St. Joseph Missionary Baptist Church in 2007, was trained in ministry leadership by the Reverend Doctor M. C. Zeno, and was ordained by the Westside Missionary Baptist Association in 2013; and WHEREAS, by God's divine providence, the Reverend Brown answered the call of Little Zion Baptist Church in December 2014 to become its pastor, and in addition to the primary pastoral care of his flock, he has faithfully executed the offices of president of the Young Minister's Alliance and secretary of the Scholarship Commission of the Westside Missionary Baptist Association; the Reverend Brown spreads the Gospel through lectures and preaching in the Louisiana and Foreign Mission State Convention, and the National Baptist Convention of America, Incorporated; and Page 1 of 2 HR NO. 16 ENROLLED WHEREAS, in the secular world, the Reverend Brown has taught in Jefferson Parish schools and Algiers charter schools; he holds memberships in the National Education Association, the Communication Professionals of America, and the Black Professionals Association; and WHEREAS, his spiritual mission as a proclaimer of the Gospel of Jesus Christ reigns supreme in the life of this anointed man of God, and as the prophet responded to the Lord Almighty in the book of Isaiah, chapter 6, the Reverend Damian Brown similarly has answered the questions "whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" with a resounding "here am I. Send me!" THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Reverend Damian Brown for his service as pastor of Little Zion Baptist Church of Avondale and does hereby offer best hopes and prayers for longevity and power in his ministry.
