CONDOLENCES. Expresses condolences upon the death of William "Bill" Smith Jr.
1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2 To express the sincere condolences of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the death of
3 William "Bill" Smith Jr.
4 WHEREAS, it is with great sadness that the news of the death of William "Bill"
5 Smith Jr. was received; and
6 WHEREAS, he was born on February 14, 1932, in Norfolk, Virginia, to William H.
7 and Mary E. Smith; and
8 WHEREAS, during his eighty-four years, William "Bill" Smith Jr. was the example
9 of a righteous man who was deeply loved and admired by those who knew and loved him
10 and in no place was this more evident than in his role as the elder and pastor of White's Ferry
11 Road Church of Christ in West Monroe, Louisiana, where he served for over fifty-three
12 years; and
13 WHEREAS, he is preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law Ken Bunn; and
14 WHEREAS, he is survived by his loving wife of sixty-one years, Margaret R. Smith;
15 his daughters Dawn Foor and husband Mark, Starla Bunn, Pamela Spencer and husband Ed,
16 and Kimberly Stephens and husband Paul; fourteen grandchildren and twenty-four
17 great-grandchildren; and
18 WHEREAS, through his love for Christ, the life of William "Bill" Smith Jr. will be

1 remembered forever by his family, friends, and many parishioners who over the last
2 eighty-four years he has inspired.
3 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
4 express its sincere condolences upon the death of William "Bill" Smith Jr.
5 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
6 family of William "Bill" Smith Jr.
