2016 First Extraordinary Session ENROLLED SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 10 BY SENATORS WALSWORTH AND THOMPSON AND REPRESENTATIVES CHANEY, HOFFMANN AND JAY MORRIS A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION To express the sincere condolences of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the death of William "Bill" Smith Jr. WHEREAS, it is with great sadness that the news of the death of William "Bill" Smith Jr. was received; and WHEREAS, he was born on February 14, 1932, in Norfolk, Virginia, to William H. and Mary E. Smith; and WHEREAS, during his eighty-four years, William "Bill" Smith Jr. was the example of a righteous man who was deeply loved and admired by those who knew and loved him and in no place was this more evident than in his role as the elder and pastor of White's Ferry Road Church of Christ in West Monroe, Louisiana, where he served for over fifty-three years; and WHEREAS, he is preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law Ken Bunn; and WHEREAS, he is survived by his loving wife of sixty-one years, Margaret R. Smith; his daughters Dawn Foor and husband Mark, Starla Bunn, Pamela Spencer and husband Ed, and Kimberly Stephens and husband Paul; fourteen grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS, through his love for Christ, the life of William "Bill" Smith Jr. will be remembered forever by his family, friends, and many parishioners who over the last eighty-four years he has inspired. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express its sincere condolences upon the death of William "Bill" Smith Jr. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the family of William "Bill" Smith Jr. PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES Page 1 of 1
