SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 9

COMMENDATIONS. Commends Annie Beard on her achievements and on being named
the 2015 Gymnast of the Year by International Gymnast Magazine.
1 A RESOLUTION
2 To commend Annie Beard on her achievements and on being named the 2015 Gymnast of
3 the Year by International Gymnast Magazine.
4 WHEREAS, Alexandria, Louisiana, native and junior Olympic gymnast Annie Beard
5 gave up a normal childhood to follow her dream of competing as an elite gymnast; and
6 WHEREAS, Annie has been a gymnast since she was two years old and trains six
7 days a week, five hours a day; and
8 WHEREAS, the eleven-year-old gymnast was selected by International Gymnast
9 Magazine out of more than seventeen thousand girls as the 2015 Gymnast of the Year; and
10 WHEREAS, the factors considered during the selection process include scores from
11 state, regional, and national meets; and
12 WHEREAS, Annie and her mother, Jennifer, moved to Texas to train toward her goal
13 of becoming an elite gymnast while her father, Ronnie, and her sister, Caroline, remained
14 in Alexandria; and
15 WHEREAS, during the current season which began in December 2015 and ends in
16 May 2016, Annie is competing as a level ten gymnast; and
17 WHEREAS, following the current season, she will begin intense training to qualify
18 to train as an elite gymnast in January 2017; and

1 WHEREAS, Annie will then concentrate her efforts toward becoming a member of
2 the national team; and
3 WHEREAS, Annie is a role model for other students and is worthy of emulation and
4 public recognition, and is a source of pride for her parents, Ronnie and Jennifer Beard, her
5 sister, Caroline, and her family and friends; and
6 WHEREAS, she deserves to be honored and respected for her outstanding
7 achievements and her willingness to make sacrifices at the tender age of eleven years old in
8 order to attain her goals.
9 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
10 does hereby commend and congratulate Annie Beard on being named the 2015 Gymnast of
11 the Year by International Gymnast Magazine; does hereby record for posterity the pride and
12 honor that she brings to her family, friends, community, and the state of Louisiana; and does
13 hereby extend best wishes on her future endeavors and gymnastic competitions.
14 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
15 Annie Beard.
