HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 20
BY REPRESENTATIVES HAZEL AND ROBERT JOHNSON
A RESOLUTION
To express the condolences of the House of Representatives upon the death of Karen From.
WHEREAS, it was with deep regret and profound sorrow that the members of the
Louisiana House of Representatives learned of the death of Karen From on Friday,
December 11, 2015, at the age of sixty-nine; and
WHEREAS, prior to her long and effective teaching career, Ms. From worked for
The Town Talk newspaper in Alexandria; and
WHEREAS, Ms. From had a passion for American literature, especially for Emerson
and Thoreau; she taught American literature at Holy Savior Menard Central High School,
where she strived to be an inspiration to all students; and
WHEREAS, she will long be remembered for her memorable roles in local theater;
and
WHEREAS, she was preceded in death by her parents, Wincel Eichelberger and Faye
Zimmerman Eichelberger; and
WHEREAS, left to cherish her memory are her husband, K. Trevor From, Jr., M.D.;
her children, Allison From, Kendall From, III, and Catherine From; her grandchildren,
Trevor and Tyler Stodghill; her sister, Kaye Pace; and her niece and nephew; and
WHEREAS, with the death of Ms. From, Louisiana has lost one of her finest citizens;
she was admired by all whose lives she touched and is greatly missed; and
WHEREAS, although the death of Karen From has left a tremendous void in her
community, her memory shall live on forever in the minds and hearts of all who knew and
loved her.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the
death of Karen From; does hereby recognize and record for posterity her outstanding
accomplishments and singular contributions; and does hereby extend enduring appreciation
for the pride and honor that this wonderful lady will forever bring to her family and friends,
her community, and the state of Louisiana.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to the family of Karen From.
