SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 10

COMMENDATIONS.  Commends the Yellow Pine Christian Church on the occasion of its
one hundred fourteenth anniversary.
1	A RESOLUTION
2 To commend and congratulate Yellow Pine Christian Church on the occasion of its one
3 hundred fourteenth anniversary.
4 WHEREAS, Yellow Pine Christian Church, formerly Union Church, has been the
5 anchor of Yellow Pine Community since it was built 114 years ago in 1902; and 
6 WHEREAS, over the years, it has been renovated, remodeled and added to the
7 National Register for Historic Places on January 25, 1995; and 
8 WHEREAS, Yellow Pine Christian Church, located at 742 Yellow Pine Road in
9 Sibley, Louisiana, started with forty-five members and its first pastor was Rev. Claude L.
10 Jones; and 
11 WHEREAS, in 1948, Rev. Elmer Burton became the full-time pastor and was
12 succeeded by Glenn Crow in 1950, Jimmy Simmons in 1956, L C Reese in 1958, Johnny
13 Beasley in 1961, E R Bawson in 1962, Glenn Crow in 1965, Dr. C. E. Poole in 1973, Ronald
14 Patton in 1984, Glenn Crow in 1987, Tom Brown in 1994, Vance Moore in 2012, and the
15 current co-pastors, Ben and Theresa Booth in 2014; and
16 WHEREAS, although the church has been through a complete restoration, nothing
17 has changed, and it stands basically the same as 114 years ago; and 
18 WHEREAS, Yellow Pine Christian Church is truly a beautiful antique treasure in

1 Webster Parish and remains a wonderful historic monument to the past of Louisiana with
2 no others to rival it in the state; and
3 WHEREAS, Yellow Pine Christian Church has an incredible history that has
4 required hard work, prayerful and faithful hearts, brotherly love, and cooperation to continue
5 to grow and flourish through the difficulties and adversities the church and its members have
6 endured; and
7 WHEREAS, it is appropriate to congratulate Yellow Pine Christian Church and its
8 congregation of sixty-six members as they celebrate one hundred fourteen years of grace and
9 community service.
10 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
11 does hereby commend and recognize Yellow Pine Christian Church on the one hundred
12 fourteenth anniversary of the church and does hereby express appreciation to the members
13 of the church congregation for their many years of commitment to a tradition of faith,
14 growth, and service.
15 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
16 Yellow Pine Christian Church.
