Commends Dr. Lacey LeBlanc Seymour upon receipt of the 2016 Early Career Psychologist Award. 1 A RESOLUTION 2 To commend Dr. Lacey LeBlanc Seymour of upon receipt of the 2016 Early Career 3 Psychologist Award from the American Psychological Association. 4 WHEREAS, Dr. Lacey Seymour is the founder and CEO of the Live Oak Children's 5 Center, a multi-disciplinary pediatric therapy center located in Covington, Louisiana; and 6 WHEREAS, Dr. Seymour is both a licensed psychologist and licensed behavior 7 analyst with over ten years of experience working with children in both clinical and 8 educational settings; and 9 WHEREAS, psychologists like Dr. Lacey Seymour have advanced the creation, 10 communication, evaluation, and application of psychoanalytical knowledge to benefit 11 society and to improve the everyday lives of their patients; and 12 WHEREAS, Dr. Seymour received a Doctor of Psychology from Louisiana State 13 University and completed an internship and a post doctoral fellowship at the Kennedy 14 Krieger Institute, an affiliate of the School of Medicine at Johns Hopkins University in 15 Baltimore, Maryland; and 16 WHEREAS, in St. Tammany Parish Dr. Seymour has worked as a consultant in both 17 the public and private school settings along with school personnel to design effective 18 behavioral and academic interventions for at-risk students; and Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 26 SLS 162ES-230 ORIGINAL 1 WHEREAS, Dr. Seymour provides outpatient psychological and behavioral services 2 to both typically developing children as well as children with special needs in a variety of 3 clinical settings that include early intervention mental health, autism, speech and hearing, 4 and pediatric developmental disorders; and 5 WHEREAS, Dr. Seymour is an active participant in several community organizations 6 in the Covington area and is currently serving as president of the Louisiana Psychological 7 Association; and 8 WHEREAS, the Louisiana Psychological Association, as the state professional 9 association representing psychologists in all practice, research, and academic settings, works 10 to further the development of psychology in applied practice and as a means of promoting 11 human welfare; and 12 WHEREAS, as president of the Louisiana Psychological Association, Dr. Seymour 13 provides leadership for the more than seven hundred fifty licensed psychologists who 14 practice in this state to serve the mental health needs of the people of Louisiana. 15 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana 16 does hereby commend Dr. Lacey LeBlanc Seymour upon receipt of the 2016 Early Career 17 Psychologist Award from the American Psychological Association. 18 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to 19 Dr. Lacey LeBlanc Seymour, President of the Louisiana Psychological Association.
