[R.S. 1:13(B) and 24:177(E)] HB 1134 Engrossed 2016 Regular Session Hazel Abstract: Establishes the duration of economic hardship licenses, when related to state tax delinquency, issued by the Department of Public Safety and Corrections, office of motor vehicles, as a period of two years or until such time as the individual has paid or made payment arrangements. Present law prohibits the Dept. of Public Safety and Corrections, office of motor vehicles from issuing an economic hardship license to a person whose driver's license is suspended and has not been renewed because of delinquent state taxes. Proposed law modifies present law by requiring the Dept. of Public Safety and Corrections, office of motor vehicles to issue an economic hardship license to a person whose driver's license is suspended and has not been renewed because of delinquent state taxes. Specifies that the economic hardship license is valid for a period of two years or until such time as the individual has paid or made payment arrangements relative to his state tax delinquency.
