Abstract:  Authorizes the clerk of the district court in DeSoto Parish to levy an additional $10 fee
for the production of birth and death certificates in addition to all other fees required pursuant
to present law for the production of such documents.
Present law (R.S. 40:39.1) authorizes clerks of district courts to issue birth and death certificates
through the state vital records registry.  Allows each clerk to levy a $5 fee for a short-form birth
certificate and a $9 fee for a long-form birth certificate or a death certificate, in addition to other fees
levied by the state registrar for such documents pursuant to present law (R.S. 40:40).  Proposed law
retains present law.
Proposed law further authorizes the clerk of district court for the parish of DeSoto to charge an
additional $10 fee for issuing certified copies of birth and death certificates pursuant to present law.
Present law (R.S. 40:39.1(D)) requires the state registrar of vital records to promulgate rules by Jan.
1, 2015, relative to present law.  Proposed law repeals present law.
Effective August 1, 2016.
