HB 187 Engrossed	2016 Regular Session	Bishop
Abstract: Authorizes an automobile expense allowance for the assessor in Lafayette Parish not to
exceed 15% of the assessor's salary to be paid from existing funds of the assessor's office.
Present law authorizes an automobile expense allowance for the assessor in Webster Parish. The
amount of the allowance is equal to 15% of the assessor's annual salary and shall be payable out of
existing funds of the assessor's office, provided the assessor maintains $300,000 of automobile
insurance per accident for bodily injury and $100,000 of automobile insurance per accident for
property damage.
Proposed law retains present law as it relates to the assessor in Webster Parish but adds authorization
for the assessor in Lafayette Parish to have an automobile expense allowance as provided for in
present and proposed law.
Proposed law adds a limitation for the assessors in both Webster and Lafayette parishes that the
amount of the expense allowance shall not exceed 15% of the assessor's annual salary and that the
expense allowance shall be funded by the assessor at no additional expense to the state or local
governing authority.
