GAMBLING/VIDEO POKER: Provides with respect to the closure of a restaurant at a
qualified truck stop facility
1 AN ACT
2To amend and reenact R.S. 27:418(C), relative to the operation of a restaurant at a qualified
3 truck stop facility; to provide with respect to closing the operation of a restaurant
4 during certain legal holidays; to provide for applicability; and to provide for related
5 matters.
6Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
7 Section 1. R.S. 27:418(C) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:
8 ยง418. Leasing or subleasing restaurant and convenience stores at qualified truck
9 stops; holiday operation

11 C. Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, the owner or
12 lessor of a qualified truck stop facility, except for a qualified truck stop facility
13 located in Orleans Parish, may close the restaurant on the premises of the qualified
14 truck stop facility during a legal holiday as defined in R.S. 1:55(B)(1)(a).

Abstract: Authorizes the closure of the restaurant at a qualified truck stop facility during
legal holidays.
Present law provides for the operation of a qualified truck stop facility and the operation of
video draw poker devices at that facility. Provides for the licensing and operation of video
draw poker devices at qualified truck stop facilities and for the operation of restaurants at
these facilities. Authorizes the owner or lessor of a qualified truck stop facility to close the
restaurant during certain specified legal holidays observed by the state departments.
Proposed law authorizes the closure of a restaurant for all legal holidays and excludes the
owner or lessor of facilities in Orleans Parish from this authority to close on all legal
holidays.
